After a mastectomy or lumpectomy, a properly fitted bra is extremely important.

Apex Medical Rentals carries the Softee II post-surgical camisole by Ladies First, Inc. The garment is designed specifically for the days after surgery to restore shape and provide comfort and security. A unique pocket on the front underside of the camisole conveniently and safely holds the post-operative surgical drains from the right, left or both sides.
Once the surgeon feels the incision has healed well enough (usually about six to eight weeks post-surgery), the doctor will recommend seeing a certified fitter. The initial fitting generally lasts about thirty minutes. Medicare, Medicaid, and most insurances have coverage for breast prostheses and bras.
Breast prostheses come in all shapes and sizes. They are available in attachable forms that adhere to the chest wall, forms designed specifically for swimming, and forms designed to be worn inside of a pocketed bra.
